After cubing meat, heat the grease or oil in a heavy bottom pot until hot. While it is heating add granulated garlic, pepper and flour to the meat and toss.
Brown meat on all sides. Stir in broth (scraping the bottom of the pan to deglaze and stir in all the bits), cranberry juice, soy sauce, fresh garlic, and rest of dry seasonings. Heat to boiling.
Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 1 hour or until meat is tender. Blend cornstarch and water; stir gradually into meat mixture.Cook, stirring constantly, until mixture thickens and begins to boil. Gently boil and stir for 1 minute. Serve over rice.
