  • beef broth
  • cranberry juice
  • soy sauce
  • garlic
  • onion powder
  • paprika
  • pepper
  • cajun seasoning
  • cornstarch

See recipe card for amounts.

Instructions

I like how I can preplan this meal. It is great for me when I can prep it early but need to be available for other things at the time I would usually be cooking, as it simmers during that time! The steak is cubed then browned in some fat. When adding the liquid, scraping the bottom of the pan and deglazing adds so much flavor to the dish. The seasonings go in and then the sirloin tips just simmer for an hour or so until fork tender. I like to make a cornstarch slurry to thicken that sauce up and serve it over rice. It is comfort on a plate!

Variations

You honestly can change out any seasonings or add any you like. If you like diced onions they also taste great added in at the browning meat step!

Equipment

It is important to use a heavy bottom dutch oven or pot for this recipe so that the bottom doesn't scorch on you. I love this one if you are looking for one - Dutch Oven Link

Serving

This of course goes great over white or brown rice. Serve it with a green veggie like asparagus, broccoli or sprouts. A tossed green salad is also perfect. Then your meal is complete!
