Easy Cowboy Candy

Cowboy Candy is one of the easiest and most flavorful condiments you can make at home! With just a few simple ingredients like pickled jalapeños, sugar, and a touch of cinnamon, you get the perfect balance of sweet and spicy. This addictive treat is incredibly versatile—enjoy it on crackers, sandwiches, burgers, or even eggs! It also makes a fun and unique homemade gift for friends and family. If you love bold flavor with a kick, this sweet and spicy jalapeño relish is a must-try!

Ingredients

  • Jarred Jalapeño slices
  • Tablespoons Sugar
  • Juice from Jalapeño slices
  • cinnamon sticks
  • ground cinnamon

Instructions

In a wide mouth mason jar, add jalapeños about ⅓ way up. Pour on 2-3 Tablespoons sugar. Add the rest of the slices. Add 2-3 more Tablespoons sugar and good dash or two of the jarred juice, cinnamon sticks and ground cinnamon.  Shake very well, but gently so the jalapeños do not break.Check consistency. It should have a thick layer of juice. Add more sugar if needed. Store in fridge, flipping throughout day so all peppers are coated and sugar is completely dissolved. 

Serving

These are amazing served so many ways.

  • If using at a party as an appetizer serve with crackers and cream cheese.
  • They taste great with breakfast with your eggs!
  • Serve on the side of grilled cheeses or pizza!
  • So yummy with BBQ (ribs, pork sandwiches etc)
  • Tastes great on burgers too!

Gift Ideas

After they are finished being flipped over and absorbing the sugar add to small jelly size mason jars, or other cute airtight jars. Tie with a piece of jute or bakers twine. Give as gifts at the holidays!

Storage

If store in the fridge in an airtight container these last 2-3 MONTHS! Such a great condiment to make ahead of time.

Do you have mason jars on hand? If not go ahead and buy several of different sizes. You can buy these individually or in cases at local stores. I also Love the lids that can be sold separately. I am linking them here.

Ingredients

  • 12 oz pickled jalapeno slices jarred or canned
  • 4-6 tablespoon sugar
  • 1-3 tablespoon juice from jar
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • ⅛ teaspoon ground cinnamon

Instructions

  • In a wide mouth mason jar (pint size gives you room to flip), add jalapeños with no juice about ⅓ of the way up.
    Pour on 2-3 T sugar. Add the rest of the slices.
    Add 2-3 more T sugar and good dash or two of the jarred juice-just enough to moisten everything.
    Add the cinnamon sticks and ground cinnamon. 
    Flip over and over until sugar is beginning to dissolve and cinnamon is well disperesed.
    Check consistency. It should have a thick layer of juice. Add more sugar if it is too thin or you can not see a sugary coating. This will be absorbed in the fridge with a little time.
    Store in fridge, flipping throughout day so all peppers are coated and sugar is completely dissolved.
