Party On The Floor Chocolate Cake

This Rich Chocolate Cake is truly a party all on its own—which is exactly why we call it Party On the Floor Cake! Why the name? Because there's a delicious "party" happening at the bottom of this cake. A decadent layer of coconut, chopped pecans, and Heath toffee bits forms a sweet, crunchy crust beneath a moist chocolate cake, all topped with a smooth, velvety frosting.

The best part? It’s incredibly easy to make—you start with a boxed cake mix, but the end result tastes completely homemade. This easy dessert recipe is perfect for casual weeknights at home, but it’s also a total crowd-pleaser at potlucks, family gatherings, and holiday parties. Trust me—you’re going to love this one!

Ingredients

The best thing about this cake is that it starts with a BOX mix!

  • box devils food cake mix (I used Betty Crocker Super Moist)
  • milk
  • oil
  • eggs
  • butter
  • coconut
  • chopped pecans
  • toffee bits
  • cocoa
  • powdered sugar
  • vanilla

See recipe card for quantities.

Instructions

Honestly, this recipe is simple, but has a wow factor with the bottom! While oven is preheating place butter into a 9x13 cake pan and allow to melt, make sure it doesn't burn. While that is melting make the cake batter. Once butter is melted add the nuts, coconut and toffee and stir around in that glorious butter! Spread evenly and pour on that batter. Cook according to package. But do not overcook. No one likes a dry cake! While it cools make your frosting and spread onto the cooled cake! YUMMMMM!

Equipment

Equipment is so important when baking. A good quality pan is important. Vanilla is also important in baking. I have my favorites for sure because it completely makes a recipe. Here is a link to my affiliate link to purchase my favorites that are tried and true.

Storage

Keep a lid on this cake and it will stay fresh for 3-4 days!

Top Tip

Watch to not over bake the bake so it stays moist! And the icing is a creamy icing. You do not need to beat to a fluff unless you desire that consistency.
