Easy Patriotic Rice Krispie Treats โ€“ Fun Star-Shaped Desserts for the 4th of July

I absolutely love celebrating holidaysโ€”especially when it means creating festive treats that are both fun and simple to make! The best part? You donโ€™t need to go overboard or spend hours in the kitchen to make something memorable. These Patriotic Rice Krispie Treats are the perfect example of an easy holiday dessert that looks adorable and tastes even better.

Shaped like stars and finished with a sweet white chocolate drizzle, these treats are a hit with kids and adults alike. You can also just leave them with out sticks and make it even easier! I picked up a box of red, white, and blue Patriotic Rice Krispies at my local grocery store, and the rest came together in just minutesโ€”no baking required!

Whether you're planning a 4th of July party, Memorial Day picnic, or simply want a fun snack to share, these star-shaped rice krispie treats are a festive and delicious way to celebrate. Bonus: theyโ€™re perfect for little hands to help make! Here is a link to a star cookie cutter!

Instructions

Simply make the Rice Krispies treat mixture and press into a sheet pan with about 1 ยฝ inch thickness. Let them firm up for several minutes. You want them pliable but not hot. Using the star cookie cutter of choice press out the cereal. You may need to reshape when removing cutter. Let these cool. Heat up chocolate chips with oil in 10 second increments and stirring between. Put into a baggie and press to a corner. Snip a tiny piece off that corner and use it to drizzle on the chocolate. If using the sticks to make pops insert these just after removing the cookie cutter. A little extra mixture may need to be added to secure the back.

Sticks

Using the stick is only an option! These are great just sitting on a platter and I promise they will be gone in no time at all!

No Patriotic Cereal? No Problem!

If you canโ€™t find the red, white, and blue Rice Krispies, donโ€™t worryโ€”regular cereal works just as well! There are a few options.

  • Simply tint your white chocolate with food coloring to make the plain cereal pop with the colored drizzle and sprinkles.
  • Color the Rice Krispie mixture itself with a bit of blue or red coloring just when the marshmallows melt into the butter. Then top with the white drizzle and sprinkles.
  • After pouring cereal mixture into pan to cut into stars tops with colorful sprinkles and gently press in. Finish with the drizzle and more sprinkles.

Pro tip

Melty Treats

If serving on the sticks like above the heat will make them soft. So be sure and have them lying down on a platter instead of standing in the heat.
