        4. Step 4: Add pork to slow cooker and cook all day

HINT: I like to cook my pork for an hour on high. Then turn down to low for about 9 hours. It yields a tender and juicy meat!

If you are needing a new slow cooker these are two of my favorites! This portable one is fantastic to travel back and forth! This standard 7 qt. is reliable and a great size.

This BBQ pulled pork is fabulous on sandwiches! I usually serve on Hawaiian rolls for a fun addition to a party. However, you are not limited to sandwiches. This pulled pork is amazing on baked potatoes, nachos, in BBQ quesadillas etc!

I promise you will be reaching for this recipe several times a year to entertain or just fill up your family!

          Storage

The best thing about this recipe is it is GREAT for meal prep! Lunches, Dinners ... what ever! It stays fresh in an airtight container for 4 days! It is also amazing frozen. I add it to a freezer bag and it keeps for 3 months!

          Ingredients

          • 6-8 pound pork butt with bone
          • 1 Tablespoon paprika
          • 1 Tablespoons smoked paprika
          • 1 teaspoon black pepper
          • 1 teaspoon cumin
          • 1 teaspoon chili powder
          • ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper
          • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
          • 1 teaspoon onion powder
          • 2 teaspoon salt
          • 20 oz. bottle Dr Pepper
          • 2 cups barbecue sauce
          • Rolls or sandwich buns
          • Toppings

          Instructions

          • In a small bowl, combine paprikas, pepper, cumin, chili powder, cayenne, garlic powder, onion powder and salt.
          • Pat dry the pork butt. With a sharp knife pierce the pork all over. Rub seasonings all over the pork. Making sure it is completely covered.
          • In a lightly greased slow cooker, whisk together Dr Pepper and barbecue sauce. Place roast in slow cooker. Cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours.(If convenient, I like to cook mine on high for 1 hour then turn down to low for 8-9 hours)
          • Remove pork butt from slow cooker and shred with two forks. Reserve only ¾ cup of liquid and discard the rest. Return meat to slow cooker and toss with cooking liquid and about ½ cup of BBQ sauce. This allows guests to add more sauce if desired with out it being dripping in sauce. Serve on rolls or buns with additional toppings such as onions, pickles, mustard etc.

          • Bowls of taco soup topped with shredded cheese, sour cream, and tortilla chips for a hearty and flavorful meal.
