Ingredients

  • soy sauce
  • cornstarch
  • garlic
  • sherry
  • honey
  • ginger
  • sesame oil
  • red pepper flakes
  • sriracha
  • beef broth
  • olive oil
  • flank steak or sirloin
  • broccoli

Instructions

  1. Step 1: Combine all sauce ingredients and set to side

2. Step 2: After slicing beef thinly and adding cornstarch cook in batches until cooked through.

3. Step 3: Add broccoli and cook until crisp tender.

4. Step 4: Add that glorious sauce and watch the magic happen!

Hint: Slicing the beef against the grain will give you a much more tender piece of steak!

Substitutions

  • Rice - instead of white rice you can always sub for cauliflower rice, brown rice and even noodles!
  • Honey - if you are out of honey, brown sugar is a good alternative
  • Sriracha - if you do not like any spice, this can be omitted

Storage

This recipe will keep in the fridge for 2-3 days and reheats amazingly well!

Top Tip

Don't over cook the broccoli! You want it crisp tender because it will soften in the sauce at the final step.

Ingredients
  

  • ½ cup soy sauce low sodium
  • 2 Tablespoons cornstarch -divided
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 Tablespoons sherry
  • 3 Tablespoons honey
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger minced
  • 2 Tablespoon sesame oil
  • ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1 Tablespoon Sriracha sauce or to taste
  • ½ cup beef broth or chicken broth low sodium or no sodium- optional, used to thin
  • 1 Tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 pound flank steak or sirloin trimmed of fat and sliced thin against the grain
  • 1 head broccoli cut

Instructions
 

  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, 1 Tablespoon cornstarch, garlic, sherry, honey, ginger, sesame oil, red pepper flakes, Sriracha sauce. Set aside until ready to use.
  • Heat the olive oil in a large skillet. Combine 1 Tablespoon corn starch with sliced beef in a bowl. Add the beef to the hot skillet a ⅓ at a time, In a thin layer and cook undisturbed for about 30 seconds then flip over and cook another minute until done. Continue until all meat is cooked and removed to a plate. Add about a teaspoon of sesame oil and add broccoli and cook until crisp tender - quickly add beef back in and then combine with sauce. Let sauce thicken and serve immediately over rice.
