Bell Peppered Patties are a quick, flavorful, and family-approved meal that's stood the test of time. This easy recipe has been a go-to in our home for decades—and for good reason! Packed with juicy ground meat, vibrant bell peppers, and bold seasonings, these patties are perfect for busy weeknights, meal prep, or even school lunches. In fact, one of my sons loves making a batch to take with him for several days at a time!

To get the best results, don’t hold back on the spices—feel free to add extra for a flavor boost. Just be careful not to overcook them, as that can dry them out. Whether you serve them on a over buttered egg noodle or with rice, these Bell Peppered Patties are sure to be a hit. Try them out and let me know how you like them!

Ingredients

I bet you have most of these already on hand!

  • soy sauce
  • garlic powder
  • onion powder
  • pepper
  • ground beef
  • olive oil
  • small onion
  • red or green bell pepper
  • cooked noodles or rice

See exact quantities below in recipe card!

Instructions

This recipe comes together quickly, making it perfect for busy weeknights!

  1. To start, in a medium bowl, combine the soy sauce and your choice of seasonings.
  2. Then, remove 1 tablespoon of this mixture and add it to a large skillet—this will help season the veggies during cooking.
  3. Next, add the ground hamburger meat to the remaining soy sauce mixture in the bowl. Mix well until fully combined, then form into four patties, each about ½ inch thick.
  4. For extra flavor, drizzle a little more soy sauce and a light sprinkle of black pepper on top of each patty.
  5. Meanwhile, slice the onions and bell peppers into thin strips.
  6. In the skillet, add 1 tablespoon of oil to the reserved seasoning mixture and heat over medium.
  7. Add the sliced onions and peppers to the skillet and sauté until they are crisp-tender or cooked to your desired level of doneness.
  8. Once done, remove the vegetables from the skillet and set them aside.
  9. Now, add 1 to 2 tablespoons of oil to the same skillet and carefully place the patties in.
  10. Cook the patties for about 3–4 minutes per side, or until they are fully cooked and no longer pink in the center.
  11. Finally, top each patty with the sautéed onions and peppers, and serve over a bed of noodles or your favorite side.

Tips

Be sure and not to over cook the patties so they stay tender and juicy!

Even if your kids do not like onions and peppers I have found that topping them on the patties gives them a great flavor. You can scrape the veggies off just before serving the children.

I personally love this recipe in egg noodles. But rice works great too and is a favorite of one of my kids.

Equipment

Wow...all you need is a few basic kitchen tools and nothing crazy! Having a great non stick skillet or cast iron skillet is handy with these kinds of meals. Here is a LINK to some of my FAV kitchen supplies!
