Instructions
This recipe comes together quickly, making it perfect for busy weeknights!
- To start, in a medium bowl, combine the soy sauce and your choice of seasonings.
- Then, remove 1 tablespoon of this mixture and add it to a large skillet—this will help season the veggies during cooking.
- Next, add the ground hamburger meat to the remaining soy sauce mixture in the bowl. Mix well until fully combined, then form into four patties, each about ½ inch thick.
- For extra flavor, drizzle a little more soy sauce and a light sprinkle of black pepper on top of each patty.
- Meanwhile, slice the onions and bell peppers into thin strips.
- In the skillet, add 1 tablespoon of oil to the reserved seasoning mixture and heat over medium.
- Add the sliced onions and peppers to the skillet and sauté until they are crisp-tender or cooked to your desired level of doneness.
- Once done, remove the vegetables from the skillet and set them aside.
- Now, add 1 to 2 tablespoons of oil to the same skillet and carefully place the patties in.
- Cook the patties for about 3–4 minutes per side, or until they are fully cooked and no longer pink in the center.
- Finally, top each patty with the sautéed onions and peppers, and serve over a bed of noodles or your favorite side.

Tips
Be sure and not to over cook the patties so they stay tender and juicy!
Even if your kids do not like onions and peppers I have found that topping them on the patties gives them a great flavor. You can scrape the veggies off just before serving the children.
I personally love this recipe in egg noodles. But rice works great too and is a favorite of one of my kids.
