We begin every October with a Caramel Apple Board - it is a family tradition that we love!

Having a quick and easy semi-homemade recipe in your back pocket is always a win—especially during busy seasons! This creamy caramel dip for an apple bar is the perfect solution when you need something simple, sweet, and crowd-pleasing. Made with prepackaged caramels and a surprising secret ingredient, this dip comes together in no time and tastes like you spent hours on it. Not only is it a must-have for your next fall gathering or apple bar, but it’s so good, you’ll find yourself drizzling it over ice cream, brownies, or even stirring it into your hot cocoa. Trust me—you’ll be making this easy caramel apple dip all year long!

Ingredients

  • prepackaged wrapped caramels (not the bits)
  • cream cheese

See exact quantities below

Instructions

First, unwrap the caramels and place them in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave for about 40 seconds, just until they begin to soften. Next, add the room-temperature cream cheese to the bowl. Continue microwaving in 30-second increments, stirring between each, until the mixture becomes creamy, smooth, and pourable. At first, it may appear slightly grainy, but don’t worry—this texture will smooth out beautifully as the dip rests in a warming crockpot.

See the video below to watch the board and caramel all come together!

Equipment

I highly recommend a small warming slow cooker. This helps to keep your caramel warm and creamy through out serving. Here is a link to a couple that I have and love.

Storage

This caramel dip is great as leftovers and will stay good in the fridge for about a week - just check the date on your cream cheese. Store in an airtight container and scoop out some goodness when you want it!

Serving

Making your board can be so fun! You will want all kinds of toppings! I love to serve sliced apples then add a serving of caramel onto my plate then top that dollop of caramel with all my toppings! Toppings can include mini m&ms, mini chocolate chips, heath bits, crushed Oreos, mini marshmallows, pecans etc!
